I don’t know about you, but endless gloomy, cloudy days wear me down. I find my creativity slowing to a crawl and that makes me feel “less than” my best self. I spend more time on the computer which, while useful and enjoyable, is also largely a creative drain because my time is focused on the “business” side of my art, my husband’s business needs, and the bill paying, emailing, web researching, etc., necessary to keep the modern household functioning.
I’m excited that I have recently been very blessed to be able to purchase a new Microsoft Surface Book 2. I would have LOVED the top of the line Surface Pro – but honestly, this little beauty has enough features and abilities to keep me creatively engrossed for a long time! (By the way, I’ve provided a link to the Microsoft Store but I do earn anything if you click. I just thought it would be a useful link.)
I’m looking forward to spending time learning how to use my new laptop to draw, create new clip art of my balloons, create my own unique glitter tattoo stencils, and more. (Oh – and I have a new Silhouette Cameo 4!! SO marvelous for creating my candy cups and tattoo stencils! But more on that in another post.)
Unfortunately, buying machines and creating are not the same thing. I have to fight not to purchase all the bits and pieces that make the creative process easier – rather than spending my TIME creating!
Do you ever struggle with that problem in your creative life? If so, what helps you turn away from the online catalogs (and the constant email barrage) and make yourself actually learn and use these wonderfully useful tools? Would love to read your ideas!!
