2020 has been a challenging year in so many ways. For far too many this has been a time of loss: jobs, schools, businesses, social connections, and the most horrific – loss of loved ones. It can feel pretty daunting to just get through the day – let alone think of celebrating anything.
But life IS happening. Those we love and cherish are having birthdays, anniversaries, births, weddings. While the celebrations are not what anyone might have planned or anticipated before now – the spirit of creativity is alive and well around the world.
During this time, and especially as we approach Mother’s Day, and the end of the school year for hard working students, allow yourself the opportunity to celebrate those achievements. It can be as small as ordering in your favorite food – to putting out lawn decorations – to ordering up a movie for yourself and a bunch of friends and family and watching it together with Zoom.
If you are alone during this time, or are faced with the daunting work schedules that so many face, please take the time to be kind to yourself. Nothing feels “normal” right now. Expressing love, creativity, and hope will make it feel – and become – more so.
If you are feeling especially alone, stressed, and depressed during this time, please reach out. It is really hard – I know. But you are not facing these extraordinary times alone. Below I am listing a link that will take you to a safe site where you can find help. Take care of yourself.
