First, let me say that I love Grammarly. It definitely saves me time in terms of the “mechanics” of writing. If you write a lot – or have kiddos who do, I urge you to look into it. They have free and paid options. I get no kickback for this – I just like to share things that have made my life better.
That said. I am reconsidering how I want to use my current website going forward. I made a mistake when I set up my and my husband’s websites. I chose GoDaddy as my host company. They are great for registration, and I suppose they would be fine for many people’s full needs. But I fell for their “buy a longer term contract and save money” pitch and now I’m locked into an arrangement that is no longer working well.
Changing hosts is a real aggravation. Much easier than it was several years ago. But still no fun and a big time-suck. So I’m going about my changes in small steps. I’m going to “ride out” my contract with GoDaddy (who, by the way, purchased ManageWP – a product I absolutely LOVE and their development team is doing a good job on keeping it going). But I am going to be changing my business focus.
I love to do so many things – painting, writing, balloon twisting, face painting, crafts of all sorts. It’s actually silly to try to combine all those under one “umbrella” – and especially with a name that doesn’t “match” any of those interest. But I have the “good” (?!?) fortune of being a small timer. So I’m going to buck the rules and forge ahead with what I have available and can afford (sound familiar).
I’ve reached out to create my new business name “Merry Sherry’s Creations”. I’ll be pulling my balloon twisting, painting, and face painting, as well as any other general arts and crafts, into that entity. I will continue to sell my soaps as “Merry Sherry’s Small Batch Soaps” for now. That is such a specific and different type of business that it deserves to stand on its own.
Drop-Everything.com will begin to evolve as well. I’m going to discontinue the shop section. It is darned near impossible to sell soap online from an individual website. And, although I enjoy writing and blogging, I’m going to take that offline and journal and write the old fashioned way for just myself.
Drop-Everything.com will be modified to hold updates and postings about my Merry Sherry’s Creations activities. I have the url forwarding to this site now so it shouldn’t be hard for people to find me.
I know it is messy. So is my life right now. It’s OK.
